A mini-village with diverse room typesQupqugiaq Inn has thirty-one rooms and six Japanese style sleeping pods. There are nineteen rooms with private bath and twelve with shared bath. Of the rooms with private bath, seven are superior rooms. There are five shared bathrooms located in common areas, each private and lockable. One of these is a four foot diameter glass tiled circular shower, so even those on a budget can have that dramatic, fun experience.
During our just finished remodel (2013 - 2014) we added a new lobby, with a traditional yet modern reception, several cool seating areas, and many other features. Click around this site to see some of them! During our previous remodeling project, we added many new amenities, such as marble window sills, specially designed oak moulding, and antique furniture. The beds were produced by a carpenter we know in Chennai, India. These are carved by hand from teak to our design (with a sun, star, and moon motif).
Each room is designed with items collected during our travels to numerous developing countries around the world, including Nicaragua, Cuba, Guatemala, Ecuador, Bolivia, Ghana, Nigeria, the Congo, India and more. Please visit our photo gallery for more information, including some stories about some of our adventures in collecting these pieces of art.
